Saab Sleeper
For when you have one too many Saab 96 sedans in the yard, and you want to go camping, Jack presents this "Saab Sleeper." Note the rear door doubles as an awning, and the sleeping area fits a full-size bearded man.
Hi Jack , I admire you way of drawing ! It's just beautiful and very interesting .I'm a Saab enthusiast of France and would like to show your artwork on our Saab blog if it's ok for you http://saab.skynetblogs.be/ Thanks a lot .I would sign for a Saab sleeper ! Jeff
Jack Ashcraft is a unique combination of mechanic, artist, engineer, and thinker. If he isn't wrenching on an old vintage Saab, he's likely enjoying a glass of wine and sketching some mechanical brainstorm he's had. Lucky for us, much of his work has been documented.
Shortly after graduating Art Center College of Design in 1975, Jack began a series of sketchbooks. Literally a dozen or so 8.5"x11" sketchbooks filled with hundreds of pages of mechanical drawings. Everything from dashboard layouts for a Saab Sonett, to one-off automotive creations. He's even thrown in the occasional naked woman to keep things interesting.
I'll be starting with Sketchbook #1, and working my way through the stack. Instead of simply posting from page 1 to page 2, I'm going to try and organize a few of the "topics" that Jack covers. Hopefully, I can convince Jack to give a little commentary along the way.
